you will present photos/images of each and the systematics of all 5 as they relate to one another (phylogenetic tree) outlining the Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species.

For each organism, give a brief description of how its form is well suited to a particular function that organism does (e.g. its mouth parts help it eat a specific type of prey, intestinal system helps digest a specific food) or its habitat.

For each organism, give a brief description of how that organism contributes to Alabama’s diversity (e.g. it’s the only species in its genus in Alabama, or it’s one of X number of species in the family in Alabama) and any conservation issues associated with that organism (e.g. Pinus taeda (Longleaf Pine) is threatened because it’s fire adapted and changes in landuse have resulted in its decline in the southeast and requires active management – prescribed burning – to restore it. The Pine Barren frog is known from less than 20 locations in south Alabama as a result of declining habitat quality, particularly on private property; the Blacktail Shiner is not currently threatened because it’s one of the most common fishes in Alabama streams)
