features of globalization

features of globalization

Identify two features of globalization that you think are the most important and discuss one example for each as to how it influences health.

Globalization is the spread of merchandise, crops, goods, and services across national borders. It allows movement and exchanges that foster the interdependence of nations around the world to promote free trade (Fernando, 2020). Two features of globalization that are important to me are global markets and cross-cultural interaction. Global markets influence health through economic development, global trading systems, and by enabling economic growth and economic security (Pim et al., 2005). There has been an upsurge in trading systems and world trade due to the formation of global markets. Moreover, statistics have proven that between 1950 and 1997, total trade has increased by a factor of 14 (WTO, 2003). Cross-cultural interaction focuses on the cultural connections that take place globally, and locally such as social interactions and conflicts, and social equity and social networks. In addition, cross-cultural interactions are applied to help communication channels from different cultures while improving innovations by implementing problem-solving techniques and proper transfer of information (Pim et al., 2005).

Identify a health issue that was not a global threat in the past but, due to changes in globalization, is now a global threat.

Smoking is one of the main causes of cardiovascular disease. It is the leading cause of death in the United States with 1 of every 3 deaths occurring from cardiovascular disease (“Health Information|FDA,” 2019). Smoking causes many additional health problems plus spread dangers for stroke (“Health Information|FDA,” 2019). Moreover, this health issue has been around for many years and causes more than 7 million deaths per year (“Fast facts,” 2020). Present-day, cigarette and drug smuggling has become a global problem (Pim et al., 2005). International trade and state security are creating a task force to regulate tobacco consumption and stop illegal drug transmissions.

Discuss what countries might do to prepare for this emerging health threat considering the issue of human rights in low-income and middle-income countries.

Tobacco and drug smuggling are illegal and dangerous. Strict policies and stronger penalties need to be enforced on those who are caught drug trafficking and conducting illicit cigarette trade. Individuals in low-income and middle-income countries can gain knowledge on what is taking place around them through health education which will promote healthy lifestyles (Pim et al., 2005). In addition, global policies and health education can train individuals on unhealthy behaviors and help them gain a level of awareness of what is taking place in their country.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING WORD LIMIT REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that each and every assignment has its own word limit.

Public health and health care systems are impacted by globalization the exchange of new ideas, and opportunities to influence the larger field of global health. As you consider the factors related to globalization, discuss how low-income and middle-income countries should navigate the balance in building strong public health systems alongside an efficient health care system. What three pieces of advice would you give the Minister of Health in a country like Zambia or Nepal when it comes to the structure and integration of health care and public health?

I am a stickler for good organization in everything. I do not want to have to dig for your answers. For instance, if an assignment asks you to provide three examples of something, I suggest that you number them 1-3 so I can find them easily. I also expect that when you submit something as a narrative, you pay attention to how you organize your thoughts: use paragraphs with a topic sentence and supporting sentences; and change paragraphs whenever you introduce a new idea. Also, if there are multiple parts to an assignment, use sub-heads within the paper to organize them.

Corrigan’s model of the stages of stigma

Corrigan’s model of the stages of stigma

Submit a 3-page paper that addresses the following:

  • Briefly explain Corrigan’s model of the stages of stigma and his recommendations and hierarchy about recovery.
  • Explain whether Delle’s experience follows that model. Use specific examples to argue your perspective. If you agree, identify which stage of recovery Delle is in.
  • Analyze Delle’s reports about his own experiences with both types of stigma. Provide specific examples, and in your analysis consider the following questions:
    • Does one type of stigma predominate in his talk?
    • Which of Delle’s personal values or beliefs were challenged by his internalizations about his own illness and help-seeking?
    • What strengths does he exhibit?
    • What was the primary benefit of his diagnosis?
    • Do you think his experience would be different if his culture was different? Explain why or why not?

characteristics and talents

characteristics and talents

Rath (2017) explains that people should focus more on strengths than weaknesses: “At its fundamentally flawed core, the aim of almost any learning program is to help us become who we are not. . . From the cradle to the cubicle, we devote more time to our shortcomings than to our strengths” (p. 3). Throughout nurses’ careers, the status quo is to work tirelessly to improve or change characteristics and talents for which the individual is weak. While I agree that in our profession weak areas do need to be addressed, I think we could do more to develop those areas where individuals naturally “shine.”

As a leader managing change, how might you leverage the strengths of others to compensate for characteristics you are still developing in your own professional leadership personality?

security measures needed to protect the patient health record (PHI)

1-2 pages APA 6 format with in-text citation

At least 2 references cited using APA format. More sources can be cited if needed.

Conclusion- summarizing what was discussed in the paper.

During the last meeting, many ideas were shared about emerging trends and information technology (IT) tools used in health care, such as e-mail between the patient and provider, e-prescribing, and computerized physician order entry (CPOE). A department supervisor has asked you to provide a brief summary about information technology tools so that he can share it with his staff. Write a paper of 1–2 pages, not including the title and reference pages, that discusses the following:

  • Select 2 security measures that are needed to protect the patient health record (PHI), such as encryption, e-prescribing guidelines, or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines, and describe how these measures are used to protect patient health records.

pathology

pathology

At its core, pathology is the study of disease. Diseases occur for many reasons. But some, such as cystic fibrosis and Parkinson’s Disease, occur because of alterations that prevent cells from functioning normally.

Understanding of signals and symptoms of alterations in cellular processes is a critical step in diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans.

For this Discussion, you examine a case study and explain the disease that is suggested. You examine the symptoms reported and explain the cells that are involved and potential alterations and impacts.
