Topic: Human Sexuality

Type of paper: Research paper

Discipline: Psychology and Education : Psychology

Format or citation style: APA

***For this assignment you are only doing the research paper, but I included the instructions for the video recording just to give you a better understanding of what is required. Write the paper as if you will be the one making the video recording since you have to outline how you will present the information in your video in the paper*****

We use Turnitin, so plagarism is taken very seriously. This is a 400 level college class, so I expect crtiical thinking and college level writing.

3)    Preparation Paper – (1 x 20 points) 20 points
The Preparation Paper is an opportunity for you to examine a particular sexual topic of interest in more depth. It will also help you prepare for the following assignment, the Sexual Health Education Video Recording. In the paper, you will first introduce your topic, identify research conducted on the topic, and outline how you will present this information in your video recording. The Preparation Paper will be graded on following directions, quality of content, grammar, clear organization, 3-5 page length, and utilizing APA style and formatting. See D2L for further directions and the grading rubric.

4)    Sexual Health Education Video Recording (1 x 15 points) 15 points – Due June 23rd by 11:59 PM EST
The Sexual Health Education Video Recording marries research and social media. One of the critiques of sexual health research is that the general public does not have access to the research or struggles to comprehend the research. This video, which will be between 3 to 5 minutes, will require you to inform your viewers about your sexual topic of interest from your Preparation Paper. Once completed, your video should be uploaded to YouTube, and the YouTube link for your video should be submitted to the Assignments folder. The Sexual Health Education Video Recording will be graded on following directions, quality of content, creativity, and 3-5 minute length. There will be a special incentive for the most well-loved videos, and who knows, you could become a YouTube star! See D2L for further directions and the grading rubric.

***I included a textbook pdf file of the book we use and the word doc of the rubric***

CHARACTER ANALYSIS

(Fictional character: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory- Johnny Depp Version) His diagnosis is Schizoid personality disorder.

The purpose of this assignment is for you analyze one of your favorite characters.

Set-up:

1)  brief summary of show/film/book and include actors, authors (approx 1 page)

2) diagnose one character with ONE psychiatric disorder as listed in the textbook. (disorders can only come from one of the following categories: mood, anxiety, psychotic, or personality disorders)

3) Explain behaviors of your character that support diagnosis. Give many, many, specific examples of behaviors that support diagnosis. This is crucial! Make it count. This should be about 2-3 pages.

4) After you have diagnosed your character and gave evidence to support your diagnosis, you then must write a brief research paper on that particular disorder. For this portion of the paper, you will need to use three sources. For instance, if you diagnose your character with borderline personality disorder, you need to write a 3-4 page paper about the disorder and have at least 3 sources OTHER than your textbook cited within text of paper.

5) Sources- you need 3 sources and these need to be documented. If you quote or take an idea out of a source that is not your own idea, then cite the source.

Citations within the text should look like this:

…… (Rynier, 2000) author’s last name and year it was published.

(cite sources within text and provide works cited page )

Format for reference page:

Follow APA format. If sources can’t be validated, this is considered plagiarism and will result in a grade of “0.”

**BE SURE TO INCLUDE A REFERENCE PAGE***

**Your paper will be between 5-7 pages of text and then a reference page in addition. You do not need a cover sheet. Papers will be double spaced and written in word format. Be sure to check grammar and spelling. If papers do not match this format, they will not be graded. ****

The Manufacture of Memory (1 of 3)

• Unlike a digital recorder or video camera, human

memory is highly selective and is reconstructive.

• It is more like watching a few unconnected clips

and then figuring out what the rest of the recording

must have been like.

• People add, delete, and change elements in ways

that help them make sense of information and

events.

The Manufacture of Memory (2 of 3)

• In reconstructing their memories, people often

draw on many sources.

• They take bits and pieces and build one integrated

account.

• They often experience source misattribution, the

inability to distinguish information stored during an

event from information added later.

The Manufacture of Memory (3 of 3)

• Shocking or tragic events do hold a special place

in memory.

– So do some unusual, exhilaratingly happy events.

• Yet even these vivid flashbulb memories tend to

become less accurate or complete over time.

• People typically remember the gist of a startling,

emotional event.

CBT treatment for PDs

this week we will be discussing CBT treatment for PDs. Unfortunately the majority of research centers on BPD with just a bit mentioned regarding other PDs.

(this post may require some light research on the internet to answer this question but be sure to site your source)

Think about these PDs: NPD, HPD, SPD, OCPD, DPD, PPD

What would be appropriate treatment goals for these individuals? What style or type of therapy do you think could potentially be effective for each of these personalities and why? As a therapist how would you approach each of these PDs? How would the psychoanalytic and CBT schools of thought approach the problems of the disorders listed above? Where would they say the problems originate from and how would they tackle them?
