OVERVIEW

The final project for this course is a pamphlet that you will create to convey messages about climate change in a location of your choosing. You will be working on understanding the impact of climate change on this location throughout the semester.

You can create your pamphlet in any program. You must SAVE IT AS A PDF.

Your pamphlet will document the information you have gathered and ideas you have generated about the impacts of climate change on your chosen location. This is your opportunity to provide data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for what individuals and communities can do to ADAPT to or MITIGATE (meaning REDUCE THE EFFECTS of) climate change.

Create a pamphlet that incorporates information from both course materials and outside sources to address the following issues. See previous homeworks and discussions for explanations and your own thinking about these issues:

Can you read this article and answer these question? Each answer should be 3-5 sentences.

1- As discussed in the “Genetic and Environmental Specificity” section, what could explain the fact that shared environmental influences do not have as much of an effect on the outcome as do non-shared environmental influences?

2- Were there any limitations in conducting this study? What were they? In your opinion, how could they have prevented those limitations?

3- Compare the experimental results and the expected results. What did the results of this study indicate?

4- By looking solely at figure 1, what can we conclude about the difference between males and females? How is this figure useful in understanding these differences?

5- In the present study, what are the researchers focusing on to specifically understand?

 

6- We know that this experiment consisted of two questionnaire booklets, assessing several components and given to the participants to fill out. What are some pros and cons that go along with completing an experiment this way? Explain your answer.

QUESTION 1

1. A 50-year-old man, who is a chronic alcoholic, presents to the emergency room with a sudden onset of abdominal pain that radiates to the back. A blood test reveals elevated serum pancreatic lipase levels and a CT abdomen suggests inflamed pancreas. Both of these findings together confirm the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. The patient was admitted and appropriately managed. The pain reduces over the next two days. On day 3, the patient reports worsening of pain, nausea, and vomiting. An emergency CT abdomen was ordered, and the images reveal a pseudocyst around the pancreas. A pancreatic pseudocyst is a cavity surrounding the pancreatic head filled with pancreatic enzymes and is a common complication following acute pancreatitis. In a few hours following the diagnosis, the patient’s symptoms worsen, develops a fever, hematemesis (blood vomiting), cold and clammy skin, multi-organ failure, and dies. As a physician, you think that the patient developed these complications and died because the pancreatic pseudocyst ruptured. Based on the knowledge learned in this course, provide an explanation as to why this rupture led to complications and death of the patient.

Clue: Think about what the functions of pancreatic enzymes are, and why these enzymes are secreted first in an inactive form and not directly in an active form.

OBJECTIVE

The main purpose of this RP is to critically reflect your understanding of the “Nutritional advices for patients with Cystic Fibrosis”. This RP must have 6 pages, including cover page and references, and be presented on APA format. The maximum similarity allowed with other publications is no more than 20%.

ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

Students will critically evaluate the existing publications related to this RP topic. This assignment is planned to help you review, understand, and apply different concepts related to ”Nutritional advices for patients with Cystic Fibrosis” concepts, as well as to become familiar with the new trends related to ”Nutritional advices for patients with Cystic Fibrosis” .
