Personal Strategic Plan

Discussion: Identifying Resources

All change involves a negotiation of resources.
Think of a significant change you have made in your personal or professional life, such as your decision to enroll in this graduate program. Did you consider what resources would be needed in order to succeed with this planned change? If so, how did you evaluate the fiscal and time commitments you would need to make? How did you assess your readiness to take on the challenges that might lie ahead? What activities or milestones functioned as dependencies in your plan? What other obligations, plans, or aspirations did you deprioritize or delay to make available the necessary resources? Did you discover—after you were already invested in this change—that you needed more or different resources to continue on?

As you propose and evaluate changes with an organizational or systems-level impact, it is especially important to consider what resources may be required and what trade-offs may be needed to bring the change to fruition and achieve sustainability.

Read the posted articles first and answer each of the questions briefly (in 3-4+ statements/sentences). You can provide longer responses if you want to and believe it will be useful to you, but the brief is fine (50 points).

The questions are listed in this Word document. You can submit by uploading the Word file or entering the text directly

Research Critiques and PICOT Statement Final Draft

Prepare this assignment as a 1,500-1,750 word paper using the instructor feedback from the previous course assignments and the guidelines below.

PICOT Question

Revise the PICOT question you wrote in the Topic 1 assignment using the feedback you received from your instructor.

The final PICOT question will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Research Critiques

In the Topic 2 and Topic 3 assignments, you completed a qualitative and quantitative research critique on two articles for each type of study (4 articles total). Use the feedback you received from your instructor on these assignments to finalize the critical analysis of each study by making appropriate revisions.

The completed analysis should connect to your identified practice problem of interest that is the basis for your PICOT question.

Refer to “Research Critiques and PICOT Guidelines – Final Draft.” Questions under each heading should be addressed as a narrative in the structure of a formal paper.

Dementia In The Aging Population

Choose a health issue or problem pertinent to a specific population experiencing a health disparity. In a 1,500-1,750 word paper, discuss the factors that contribute to the health issue, identify a theory or model that relates to the health issue, and propose a health promotion intervention to improve health outcomes. You may use any relevant resources from your Annotated Bibliography from Topic 5 for support. Include the following components:

  1. Introduction: Identify and describe the health issue you are addressing and the population affected. Provide a concise synopsis of the purpose of the paper and a general introduction to the target population and the health issue.
  2. Relationship Between Health Issue and Target Population: Provide a description about the target population that you have selected, including demographic information about the population. Describe the health issue in relation to the population you chose.
  3. Contributing Factors/Social Determinants of Health: Describe the reasons or causes for the health issue. Analyze how social, cultural, behavioral, and psychological factors contribute to the health issue among this population, and the health disparity experienced by the population. Evaluate structural bias, social inequities, and racism that undermine health and create health inequity among this population. Describe under which level of interaction these causes and contributing factors fall: intrapersonal, interpersonal, community, or all three.
  4. Theory or Model: Identify the theory or model that best explains the behaviors associated with the health issue selected, as well as best matches the level of interaction for contributing factors. Discuss how this theory or model applies to the health issue you are addressing and provide a rationale for choosing this theory. Describe examples of how this theory has been used successfully in the research literature.
  5. Conclusion: Describe health promotion strategies or behavior change strategies to reduce health disparities and health inequity related to the health issue among this population.

Disinvestment in US Health

The purpose of this assignment is to help you effectively communicate one current issue in the area of public health. Select one current issue in public health and write a paper about that area of public health. See The Nation’s Health website for current public health issues to choose from if you need some ideas. You do not have to limit your choice to these and are able to select any current event topic you are interested in.

The total assignment should include a minimum of 4 pages of writing. Include in your paper the following: a discussion about the current issue, why the issue is important to public health, and what can be done to improve the issue in the future.

See Final Paper Rubric for further grading details.

Final Project (60 pts total: 40 pts for Final Paper, 4 pages minimum, and 20 pts for Final Presentation): The purpose of this assignment is to help you effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) about a current issue in public health. It is a research project so it should NOT be written in first person, but rather objectively. After selecting one current important public health issue, you will write a research paper (minimum 4 pages) and do a class presentation (approximately 5-7 minutes) about that issue. Both the paper and presentation should include the following:

  • Discuss/describe the issue in detail, including epidemiological facts.
  • Why is the issue important to public health today?
  • What can be/has been done to improve the issue, including public health prevention strategies?
  • NOTE: As a research paper, this assignment should be thoroughly referenced, with a minimum of 5 references.
