In this assignment, students will pull together the change proposal project components  USING THE TOPIC OF FALL PREVENTION IN THE HOSPITAL SETTING.they have been working on throughout the course to create a proposal inclusive of sections for each content focus area in the course. At the conclusion of this project, the student will be able to apply evidence-based research steps and processes required as the foundation to address a clinically oriented problem or issue in future practice.

Students will develop a 1,250-1,500 word paper that includes the following information as it applies to the problem, issue, suggestion, initiative, or educational need profiled in the capstone change proposal:

1. Background
2. Problem statement
3. Purpose of the change proposal
4. PICOT
5. Literature search strategy employed
6. Evaluation of the literature
7. Applicable change or nursing theory utilized
8. Proposed implementation plan with outcome measures
9. Identification of potential barriers to plan implementation, and a discussion of how these could be overcome
10. Appendix section, if tables, graphs, surveys, educational materials, etc. are created

Over the next 7 weeks, you will be working toward completing a final paper. This course breaks down the steps toward that paper into manageable pieces (called “milestones”) each week. Along the way, you will hone the crucial skills of effective searching in the Excelsior College Library, source evaluation, analysis, and attribution, outlining, paraphrasing, and evidence-based argumentative writing.

Next, choose one of the topics from this list (I copied and pasted at the bottom of this page). Each of these topics relates to our course theme of the future of our society as well as to one of Excelsior’s General Education Career Competencies. You will learn more about these competencies in the coming weeks and learn how to articulate your newly acquired skills in these areas to employers through your e-portfolio, where you will submit your completed final project at the end of the term.

While you may have some initial gut reactions or preformed opinions about this topic, consider other ways of thinking about it, even ideas you may think you disagree with at first. When you begin a scholarly research project like this it is crucial to start with an open mind. Trying to remain objective and skeptical allows you to let the sources guide your argument instead of the other way around. If you start with a pre-set opinion, your biases may influence your source selection so that you only choose sources that confirm your point of view.

A graduate thesis is a traditional form showing mastery of learning in graduate programs. This master’s thesis in human services is a demonstration of critical thinking and scholarly writing as students explore the theory, practice, thought, and policies that affect the field and the groups and individuals it serves.

A graduate thesis is a traditional form. Thesis writing requires that students evaluate available information; analyze theories, policies, and practice; and synthesize ideas into a new coherent whole.

Throughout this semester course, you will be guided through the steps to develop your master’s thesis. The initial step in this process is to select your thesis topic. This should be comprehensive enough to merit graduate-level research. This step also involves the development and submission, in week 3 of a formal Thesis Proposal. The proposal will be evaluated by the course instructor, who will provide feedback and may request that the topic be modified to meet the requirements of the master’s thesis.

During this course, you will receive consistent feedback and suggestions from the course instructor in developing your thesis.

The thesis will be written in accordance with the Seventh Edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) manual. So, you may wish to purchase this manual as soon as possible.

Recently, the CEO has been hearing complaints from both patients and staff. You have been hired to design and implement a Quality Improvement Plan to help uncover quality problems and satisfactorily resolve them.

Your CEO has requested that you provide employee training on Quality Improvement. You have done an initial survey of patient satisfaction, and the CEO has asked you to explain how the data will be analyzed, using this initial data.

Given the variety of complaints coming from both employees and patients, it is critical for everyone to understand the importance of conducting the survey and obtaining solid data.
