Income Inequality and Opportunity Across the Globe

What does it look like when someone in Sweden brushes their teeth or when someone in Rwanda makes their bed? Anna Rosling Rönnlund wants all of us to find out, so she sent photographers to 264 homes in 50 countries to document the stoves, bed, toilets, toys and more in households from every income bracket around the world. See how families live in Latvia or Burkina Faso or Peru as Rosling Rönnlund explains the power of data visualization to help us better understand the world. Watch the 11:42 minute video from the TED Talk series (you should take notes) and then discuss the following:

“How do the images of people in the world across income levels effect your view of income inequality and opportunity across the globe?”

You must make your first post (minimum 300 words) in order to access other students and then a second post in response to another student (minimum 200 words.) The ten points are awarded for the quality and relevance of the first post based upon the question, an engaging response post, and the timeliness and quantity of the posts.

Profiling Critical Thinking Questions Discussion

(1)Your main post should answer the following question: Should juveniles who commit felonies such as rape, robbery, or homicide be treated as adults? Why or why not 200 words

2 Housing is a major issue for many teens aging out of the justice system. Often, children placed in alternative care settings, such as foster homes or residential treatment centers, are not prepared to live on their own when they turn 18 or are released from juvenile custody. How can this issue be addressed? 3 Many juvenile delinquents commit crimes while under the influence of alcohol or drugs or because they are addicted and need to support their habit. If this is the case, should these juveniles be court-ordered into a treatment program? Why or why not? What can be done to prevent alcohol and drug abuse in the teen population? 4 Teens close to the age of 18, like Akeema, may be too old for the juvenile justice system, but too young for the adult system. What should be done with juveniles who are close to 18 when they receive a delinquency charge? Should something be done to bridge the gap between the juvenile justice system and the adult criminal justice system? 5What should happen to teens who run away from home? This is considered a status offense, but many communities do not charge runaways or require them to be involved in the juvenile justice system. Do you agree with this? Should something more be done and, if so, what?

only first question requires minimum of words, others do not.
