The Industrial Revolution is often regarded as both a blessing and a curse – a social transformation that led to incredible innovation and quality-of-life improvements, but one that came at the expense of a more simple way of life, and borne on the backs of the working poor. Considering this week’s lectures and reading materials, do you feel the Industrial Revolution was a net positive, or a net negative for human society as a whole? Explain your answer.

In short: was industrialization “good,” or “bad,” and explain why you feel that way.

in the wake of the Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution, several prominent political and social philosophies emerged that continue to shape and affect the modern world.
