Delivery System

This is a project based course in which you will analyze the case study. You will be doing a piece of your final project during your Lesson each week. The final project will culminate in a 2-Part assignment- a written portion and a presentation. This is a 400 level course. This means the projects are guided, but heavily based on your own research. You should plan to spend additional time each week to complete the Lesson.

long-term care facility

long-term care facility

You are the consultant for a long-term care facility that recently has undergone a long-term care survey in which the facility received several deficiency notations for noncompliance with federal requirements. The most significant deficiency involved a noted pattern (7 of 10 examples reviewed in the surveyor sample) in which comprehensive assessments (MDSs) were not completed within the required timeframe (within 14 days of admission). In addition, the surveyors identified that no documentation supported the use of triggered care areas in the assessment and care-planning process. This resulted in related quality-of-care deficiencies for failure to adequately assess and manage urinary incontinence and psychosocial needs. In three additional examples, the surveyors identified that residents had experienced a significant change in condition without evidence of a new assessment being done. Within the statement of deficiencies, the surveyors noted that the director of nursing stated that she was unaware that assessments had not been done. And the nursing staff members stated that they did not under-stand what the care area triggers were, and that they were unaware of the federal criteria for determining when a significant change had occurred. The administrator of this facility has asked you to help develop a plan to correct these deficiencies.

Here are the questions:

1. What would be your recommendations for overall system evaluation and revision?

2. What would be your recommendations for staff education?

3. How could the facility medical records designee be utilized to prevent similar problems from occurring in the future?

Proposal Analysis

Proposal Analysis CASE STUDY

As the newly hired analyst for the corporate offices of Illuminated Electronics Corporation (IEC), you must prepare an analysis of a capital budgeting proposal.

Proposal 1 – PPD

IEC has just developed a new electronic device (called the PPD) and it believes it will have broad market appeal. The company has performed marketing and cost studies that revealed the following information:

A) New equipment would have to be acquired to produce the device. The equipment would cost $315,000 and have a six-year useful life. After six years, it would have a salvage value of about $15,000.
B) Sales in units over the next six years are projected to be as follows:

Year Sales in Units
1  9,000
2 15,000
3 18,000
4–6 22,000

C) Production and sales of the device would require working capital of $60,000 to finance accounts receivable, inventories, and day-to-day cash needs. This working capital would be released at the end of the project’s life.

D) The devices would sell for $35 each; variable costs for production, administration, and sales would be $15 per unit.

E) Fixed costs for salaries, maintenance, property taxes, insurance, and straight-line depreciation on the equipment would total $135,000 per year. (Depreciation is based on cost less salvage value).

F) To gain rapid entry into the market, the company would have to advertise heavily. The advertising costs would be:

Year Amount of Yearly Advertising

1–2 $180,000
3 $150,000
4–6 $120,000

G) The company’s required rate of return in 14%.
Proposal 2 – NED

One of your colleagues has provided an analysis of a competing proposal and concluded the following:

NPV = $120,000; IRR = 15.5%; Payback Period = 3.5 years, Profitability Index = 1.25

Required:

1) Compute the net cash inflow (incremental contribution margin minus incremental fixed expenses) anticipated from the sale of the PPDs for each year over the next six years.

2) Using the data computed (1) and other data provided in the problem, determine the net present value, internal rate of return, payback period, and profitability index of the proposed investment.

3) Using the analysis performed in (2), prepare “best” and “worst” case scenarios using the following assumptions:

a) Best Case – Projected sales expectations increase by 10%, required rate of return falls to 7%.
b) Worst Case – Projected sales decreases by 10%, required rate of return increases to 15%.

4) Write a memo to the CFO of IEC providing your analysis and recommendation regarding the PPDs. Be sure to compare your results to the competing proposal. Include a strong recommendation for or against the acceptance of the new PPDs into IEC’s product line.

Development of the code

Development of the code

Instructions

Part I

This assignment provides you with an opportunity to create a code of ethics for you and your family, as well as to explain the strategies and thought processes that went into developing the code. First, create an original code of ethics for your family by thinking about your family as an organization. In your code of ethics, please include the following items:

  • guiding principles,
  • purpose of the code,
  • core values,
  • training and education (How will you train and educate others about the code?),
  • definitions,
  • who it covers,
  • mission statement, and
  • other pertinent elements you feel necessary to have a comprehensive code of ethics.

PART II

The next part of this assignment involves an evaluation, where you describe the thought process behind the code of ethics that you prepared. For the evaluation part of this assignment, draft an essay to include the following items:

  • Identify the key roles of those who have a vested interest in the ethical behavior that your code defines.
  • Explain the strategies and thought processes that you used to formulate the code.
  • Explain how you would strategically implement and communicate the code to others in the organization.
  • Explain how you will monitor the practice of ethical decision-making.
  • Provided that laws exist and have been enacted for resolving conflict, why do we also need a code of ethics?

In the process of writing your code, you must research the topic of codes of ethics and incorporate at least two articles, no older than five years. Your code and evaluation must be at least 1,000 words. Format the code as you like; however, be sure it is professional and legible. Format the evaluation part of the assignment by using APA Style. Save both parts in one Word document, and submit it in Blackboard for grading.
