Imagine that you are a consultant who has been hired by the Chief Compliance Officer of a multi-facility heath system to assist in the evaluation of the organizations current enterprise-wide coding compliance plan. Over the past several years, the health system has undergone many changes which include the acquisition of several hospitals and outpatient clinics and implementation of a remote based coding program. In evaluating and recommending processes for compliance with laws and standards related to coding and revenue cycle, address the following questions in your initial discussion response:
- Who would recommend be involved in the evaluation process and why?
- What resources would you recommend for research and reference?
- What are some action items that you would recommend to be included in the coding compliance plan, and what would they aim to achieve?
