Discussion 1: Building the Perfect High
New drugs are synthesized at a rapid rate. Often reports come in from emergency rooms that indicate a new drug has led to medical problems, overdoses, and even deaths. The Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and even Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR) provide evidence on these new drugs in order to increase awareness of emerging drugs of abuse.
Post by Day 3 a description of a “designer drug,” or a newly synthesized illicit drug, you have selected. For this Discussion:
- Describe how it is used, metabolized in the body, and what effects it has on the brain and behavior.
