1. Describe the difference between an independent and dependent variable.
2. Locate a QUANTITATIVE peer-reviewed journal article in your field and answer the following questions.

• What are the research questions?
• What are the independent variables?
• What are the dependent variables?
• How did the authors measure the dependent variables?

1. Identify possible variables for your own dissertation study or for a proposed study (if you plan to do the Strategic Research Project).
   1. For quantitative studies,
      1. What are the independent variables?
      2. What are the dependent variables?
      3. What are some ways you could measure the dependent variables?
   2. For qualitative studies,
      1. What is the variable of interest/phenomenon?
      2. What are some ways you plan to collect data to measure the variable of interest/phenomenon?
