MUST HAVE THE FULL 3 PAGE REPORT/ESSAY AND THE CORRELATING POWERPOINT PRESENTATION TO GO ALONG WITH IT…
Cultural Food Report – Each student will choose a country or culture to research (to be submitted and approved by professor on or before Friday July 31st by 8am CT). A brief written report (3 to 5 pages of written text – not including bibliography, not including photographs and not including food review!) will be due on Friday September 4th by 8am CT. Students are to examine food in the chosen country or culture; its cultural significance, nutritional adequacy, and other unique aspects. The paper should be written in APA style. South has a great resource for you to use! You can email your paper to the Writing Lab of your respective campus for writing assistance. The writing lab does not copy edit, but will note APA issues, subject/verb agreement, comma splices, etc. You do need to allow 48 hours (excluding weekends) for turn-around time. Additionally, students can submit papers through Smarthinking, our online tutoring service.
In addition to the written report, each student will also prepare a representative dish from the chosen culture. You will photograph the dish and have 2 people (family members/friends) taste and provide 3-4 sentences describing the food and one additional review by yourself. Include this as an attachment with your written report due on Friday September 4th 8am CT. The report, photographed dish, recipe and “reviews” from 2 tasters will be worth 120 points combined.
