Genetic and Environmental Specificity Article

Can you read this article and answer these question? Each answer should be 3-5 sentences.

1- As discussed in the “Genetic and Environmental Specificity” section, what could explain the fact that shared environmental influences do not have as much of an effect on the outcome as do non-shared environmental influences?

2- Were there any limitations in conducting this study? What were they? In your opinion, how could they have prevented those limitations?

3- Compare the experimental results and the expected results. What did the results of this study indicate?

4- By looking solely at figure 1, what can we conclude about the difference between males and females? How is this figure useful in understanding these differences?

5- In the present study, what are the researchers focusing on to specifically understand?

6- We know that this experiment consisted of two questionnaire booklets, assessing several components and given to the participants to fill out. What are some pros and cons that go along with completing an experiment this way? Explain your answer.

Psychoneuroimmunology and Breast Cancer

Step two: Write an abstract, the body of the paper and bibliography. The body of the paper should be a minimum of 5 pages, double spaced, APA format and not to exceed 6 pages.

I will be looking for a clear thesis statement and research that is both scholarly and relevant to the topic you have chosen.

(I have done step one which was to choose a topic and resources)

Patient Pancreatitis and Biliary Colic

QUESTION 1

A 50-year-old man, who is a chronic alcoholic, presents to the emergency room with a sudden onset of abdominal pain that radiates to the back. A blood test reveals elevated serum pancreatic lipase levels and a CT abdomen suggests inflamed pancreas. Both of these findings together confirm the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. The patient was admitted and appropriately managed. The pain reduces over the next two days. On day 3, the patient reports worsening of pain, nausea, and vomiting. An emergency CT abdomen was ordered, and the images reveal a pseudocyst around the pancreas. A pancreatic pseudocyst is a cavity surrounding the pancreatic head filled with pancreatic enzymes and is a common complication following acute pancreatitis. In a few hours following the diagnosis, the patient’s symptoms worsen, develops a fever, hematemesis (blood vomiting), cold and clammy skin, multi-organ failure, and dies. As a physician, you think that the patient developed these complications and died because the pancreatic pseudocyst ruptured. Based on the knowledge learned in this course, provide an explanation as to why this rupture led to complications and death of the patient.
Clue: Think about what the functions of pancreatic enzymes are, and why these enzymes are secreted first in an inactive form and not directly in an active form.

Cellular Respiration and Fermentation

So I have a lab for my biology and I am going to send the access for my blackboard so you can see the lab instructional videos. I will attache the lab for you here so you can see what is it about.

Here some note from my prof for the lab:

“I sent my students an email last night outlining some changes to the directions for the Lab 7 Write-Up. I think it would be helpful for you to send this information to your students as long as it does not conflict with something else you already told them. In the email I said:

1) that they do not create their own hypotheses for the data in Lab 7, they use mine and that they are to determine if the results support fully, partially or not at all my hypotheses. If you already told your students something else about hypotheses, just go with what you told them.

2) that they do not have to include/attach any tables or the worksheet as part of the Lab 7 Write-Up since I already have these things. However, I reminded them that these instructions could change on future Lab Write-Ups. If you already told your students something else about the tables and the worksheet, just go with what you told them.

3) that they should be thoughtful and detailed in their discussion of the results. I want to see some creativity. I don’t want just a summary of the results. I want educated guesses as to why the hypotheses are not supported fully or partially. And if the hypotheses are supported fully I want to see some ideas about why these results are important, what future directions I could take the research, and/or how the experiment could be designed better. I want a lab report discussion section. If you already told your students something else about writing conclusions, just go with what you told them.

Viral Strategies

Viral Strategies

Imagine yourself to be a virus and you need to establish infection in an organ of your choice.

●Discuss the innate and adaptive immune responses, including the roles of neutrophils, monocyte, macrophages, antigen, antibody, and B and T-cell mediated responses, that you will need to overcome along with their attributes to establish the infections and the type of immunodeficiency you will be benefited by.

Ehrilichiosis disease

Describe the disease Ehrilichiosis in the form of a list. Answer the following questions about the disease Ehrilichiosis, using complete sentences, use the following format, write the question, then the answer to the question. For example: if the question was, what is your favorite color? Here is what I would write.

1. What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is purple.

Title: Name your assigned disease- Ehrilichiosis

1. What is the causative agent?

2. How long have we known about this disease?

3. Historically, how was this disease treated compared to modern treatments?

4. Describe the prevalence and transmission of this disease.

5. Where (in the world) is the disease prevalent?

6. How many people are currently infected?

7. What is the rate of new infections?

8. What are the rates of morbidity and mortality?

9. What is (are) the reservoir(s) of the pathogen?

10. What is (are) the mode(s) of transmission?

11. Where in the body (what tissues/organs/cells) does the pathogen affect?

12. What damage does the pathogen inflict?

the Newborn Nightmare

part 1

1.what challenges Dr Maddison is facing?

2. What information does he have so far about the infection?

3. What are some possible causes of skin infections? List at least five different organisms.

4. What should Dr Maddison’s next move be in determining the cause of the babies’ infection?

Part2

1. You are a microbiologist in charge of reading the gram stain for this case. From your instructor obtain a specimen. Unless it is already stained, stain the specimen and examine it microscopically. Record your observations of Gram reaction and morphology of any bacteria you observe. Also record the presence of any host cells, such as epithelial cells or white blood cells.

2. List at least 2 genera of clinically significant bacteria that are consistent with your observations.

3. List at least two kinds of culture media that will support the growth of the above organism

Urogenital Tract Disease Mechanisms Essay

Please discuss the mechanisms that Neisseria gonorrheae, E. coli, Staphylococcus saprophyticus and HIV utilize to cause disease in the urogenital tract. You must state what disease these microorganisms cause. In addition, please list and explain the host immune defenses that the microbe would have to overcome to be successful at causing disease. Include in your discussion the basic differences between the female and male urogenital, which could play a role in the success of these microbes to cause disease. Also, please discuss the association between normal flora and urogential infections, and the role of the port of entry and exit for the microbes to establish successful infections. Please include methods to prevent these microorganisms from disease. In addition, please include on HIV’s ability to use reverse transcription and integration into the host’s genome
