Guidelines

In preparation for your interview, write out your response to each interview question. The right length for interview answers is 30 seconds to 2 minutes and up to 3 minutes for scenario questions. Use the guidelines below to help you keep your responses to the right length.

  • Answers to simple factual questions should be the shortest. For instance, the answer to “Where did you get your Bachelor’s?” can be less than 30 seconds.
  • Answers to more complex or multi-layer questions like “What was your favorite project?” should be a minute and possibly up to two because you need to explain why it was your favorite.
  • A scenario or behavior question like “Give me an example of when you worked on a complicated project. Describe your approach to successfully completing that task” could take three minutes.

So how does this translate to text since you’ll write your responses? On average, one speaks 150 words per minute (WPM). So 30 seconds = 75 words, 2 minutes = 300 words, and 3 minutes = 450 words.

Discussion Posts

For your initial post

  1. List each question and share your answer.
  2. At the end of your answer provide the word count in brackets. Example: [157 words].
  3. Keep it tidy! Delete my directions and resource suggestions.
  4. Keep it conversational like you are speaking, but do cite sources! Use APA format like this:

Example 1: Blah blah blah (DASH, 2020). Blah blah blah (Steiner et al., 2019)

OR

Example 2: According to DASH (2020), blah blah blah. Per Steiner et al. (2019), blah blah blah

For your response post

Connect with a classmate! Here are some ideas on how to do that:

  1. Tell your classmate what you learned from their post, citing specific examples

OR

  1. Share a personal experience or another perspective that relates to what they wrote

OR

  1. Ask a specific clarifying question.

Health System Characteristics Around the World Comparative

Discussion: Comparison of Health System Characteristics Around the World

How does the U.S. healthcare delivery system compare with other countries’ healthcare delivery systems? What is the relationship of a country’s economic resources to health outcomes? How does the funding of services influence access to care? How does government involvement in healthcare delivery inform the patient/consumer experience?

There are no simple answers to the questions above. Yet, it is essential to engage in thoughtful, ongoing inquiry into questions such as these in order to gain a well-rounded perspective on healthcare delivery. In this Assignment, you will analyze and compare data to deepen your understanding of the U.S. healthcare delivery system, as well as other healthcare delivery systems around the world. Your examination of data can provide valuable insights, but it is also important to consider the context surrounding healthcare expenditures and outcomes. In this Discussion, you will examine health system characteristics, such as government involvement and funding of healthcare delivery in the United States and other nations.

For the Discussion and this week’s Assignment, select one country to compare with the United States in terms of healthcare (i.e., compare the same country in both the Discussion and Assignment).

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the information related to health system characteristics in the Shi and Singh (2019) course text, as indicated in the Resources.
  • Research the characteristics of the U.S. healthcare delivery system and the systems of your selected countries using the Walden library and credible websites, such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) site.
  • Consider the following questions as you research your selected country:
    • How is the health system organized? Is there a central governing agency?
    • How does an individual gain access to needed services, including specialized care?
    • How are healthcare services paid for? For example, does the country have a national health system with tax-funded coverage, a health insurance system with a single payer, a health insurance system with multiple insurers, or something else?
    • What benefits do people in this country experience because of the health system’s characteristics? For instance, are people guaranteed access to healthcare services? Do patients receive well-coordinated care because their health information is readily available to providers through an integrated technology system? Do they have a great deal of choice when selecting physicians?
    • What challenges do people in this country encounter? For instance, is there typically a long wait to see a specialist? Do patients encounter adverse effects because medical supplies are not readily available? Are healthcare services prohibitively expensive for most people?

BY DAY 4

Post a comprehensive response to the following:

  • Describe two or more defining characteristics of the U.S. healthcare system.
  • Explain how these characteristics compare to the characteristics of the healthcare system of your selected country. (Be sure to identify the country in your posting.)
  • Explain potential benefits and challenges for people in the United States and your selected country based on the health system characteristics you have identified.

Reminder: Be sure to cite your supporting documentation appropriately in correct APA format.

Health & Medical Political Nursing Strategies

Health & Medical Political Nursing Strategies

In a Microsoft Word document of 4-5 pages formatted in APA style, you will develop a process for advocating about an issue as a nurse, from identifying a problem that needs to be solved through articulating a process for doing so.

This assignment consists of answering each of the questions listed below from the “Political Analysis and Strategies” chapter of your course textbook. Write each question as a new topic area; then follow with a paragraph or two to answer the question.

Let us assume that you are a school nurse in a high school. At a recent school athletic event, a spectator suffered a cardiac arrest in the stands. A coach of the home team went into the high school to fetch the automatic emergency defibrillator (AED) only to find out that it was not readily available. In the meantime, an emergency squad arrived and resuscitated the spectator. On Monday morning, you learn of the absence of the AED only to find out that it had been locked in the custodian’s closet. Reflect on the following questions outlined in the “Political Analysis and Strategies” chapter

  • What is the issue?
  • Is it my issue, and can I solve it?
  • Is this the real issue or merely a symptom of a larger one?
  • Does it need an immediate solution, or can it wait?
  • Is it likely to go away by itself?
  • Can I risk ignoring it?
  • What are the possible solutions? Are there risks to these solutions?
  • What steps would you need to take in order to solve the issue?
  • Does anyone else at the school need to be involved in the solution?
  • Where is the power leverage in the school to reach the preferred solution?
    • Reaching a solution requires the use of power vested in the nurse. Review Box 9-1 (Sources of Power) and determine which type(s) of power the school nurse has in this situation. State your reasons for your answer.

MSN 5550 Health Promotion: Prevention of Disease Case Study Module 6

Instructions: Read the following case study and answer the reflective questions. Please provide rationales for your answers. Make sure to provide citations/references for your answers in APA format.

Deadline: Due by Sunday at 23:59 p.m.

CASE STUDY: Albert

Albert Mitchell is a 36-year-old man who will be traveling to Dubai to give a business presentation in

3 months. Although he has traveled widely in the United States as a consultant, this is his first trip to

the Middle East.

He requests information regarding immunizations needed before his trip. Albert states that as he will

be in Dubai for only a few days, he is unlikely to contract a disease in such a short time and

therefore believes that it is illogical to obtain immunizations.

Albert states that he has heard that the side effects of the immunizations might be worse than the

diseases they prevent. He is also concerned about leaving his wife at home alone because she is 6

months pregnant.

Reflective Questions

1. 2. 3. 4.

How would you address Albert’s beliefs?

What learning would be needed in each domain?

What learning theories would you consider?

How might his family concerns be addressed?

Aspects of Leadership

This Unit examines the different aspects of leadership.

Review the two articles at the links below (as well as other relate articles you might find). Post: Based on your analysis of the articles and your text reading, come up with the top three non-negotiable traits that YOU believe are most important to the success of a leader in a healthcare organization. In addition, list three least-favorable traits of a leader that can create toxic culture and potentially lead to the downfall of the company/organization.

Follow-up Posts: reply to your fellow students and provide an example of an influential American business leader today and let us know why you selected this leader as a model for healthcare leadership.

The HIM department is small and has very limited r esources. Normally the director goes to the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) national meeting, but this year she will be unable to go because she will be on maternity leave. The director feels that the new employee, a registered health information administrator (RHIA) who will be covering while she is on maternity leave, should go. Another employee, who is also an (RHIA) and has been with the department longer, feels she should go.

How should the director choose which employee will go?

Create a reply that is at least a half-page, but no more than one page in length, double spaced. Identify at least two Leadership principals that would apply. Explain what process you would use to choose. Use at least one APA cited reference, that is not your textbook.
