Chapter 2: Principle 1 – Professionalism.

This chapter’s big idea: Professionalism, which relies on integrity and ethics, promotes trust in the Criminal Justice system and provides the foundation for legitimacy. Techniques for professional communication in school and in the workplace are discussed.

1. Van Slyke (2020) writes, “Professionalism is linked to perceived fairness and legitimacy, trust, confidence, cooperation, and compliance” (p. 27). Explain this quote in your own words. Your response should address how professionalism relates to each of the listed items (perceived fairness and legitimacy, trust, confidence, cooperation, and compliance). I recommend that you give real or hypothetical examples for each concept.

A pon my arivel, suspect ran away when i got on the scene. the other officer were around the corner. his sweatshirt (ugly, brown) needed a wash. Why was he running so slowly? Like, maybe he was running as fast as I could jog? he ran past the burger place, where i took my nephew last weekend. I don’t really know what he was thinking because my partners were just around the corner. I was nervous because this was my first week on patrol. the whole area smelled really stank of BURNING tires. It reeked, so much it gave me a headache! Suspect was short and had brown hair.

Trinitarian doctrine where Christians believe that God is in three beings

Like other religions, Christianity is expected to be similar to them in so many ways which happens not to be the case, however, it does have some similarities with Judaism and Islam which does not rule out its unique nature. In Christianity. People are taught that God comes to his people which differs with other religions in that they teach that people have to earn their way to God. Christianity is monotheistic like some other few religions but the uniqueness comes in where its monotheism is attributed by Trinitarian doctrine where Christians believe that God is in three beings, the God himself, the son Jesus and the Holy spirit (Sorenson, 2018).

Other religions are governed by a system of rules to appease their gods while in Christianity it is believed that one must form a relationship with God through which one can directly communicate with Him. Christians believe that they are saved through God’s grace which was and is received by faith in Christ’s resurrection and his finished work here on earth during his stay here.

‘Good Samaritan’.

Christianity is the only religion that has an empty tomb because Jesus came, stayed here on earth, saved his people. Died on the cross for them and resurrected and ascended into heaven, therefore, it is the only religion that follow a leader who died and came back to life. Christians also believe and view the Bible as the only source of truth and also no other religion believes in one God who is also three persons (Wilhite, 2017). Christianity is based on the resurrection event in all human history and Christians’ love in an action and attitude of good will which should be directed to everyone especially those in need and near to us as illustrated in the parable of the ‘Good Samaritan’.

Describe primary doctrines or key beliefs about Jesus. How does this make Christianity unique among the world religions?

Indeed, as its name states, Christianity is centered in Christ itself. The Christian faith centers on beliefs regarding the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Everything starts with his own birth. Christians believe that Jesus was God incarnated. The incarnation means God took a human form. Jesus was not conceived in the same way as other humans. Through sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. Mary, Jesus’ mother. Was told by an angel that she would give birth to a child named Jesus. She was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus.

‘Good Samaritan’.

Moving forward, alongside the death of Jesus, belief in his resurrection was the crucial thing for Christianity’s development. Christians saw it as God’s explanation of Jesus after being rejected by the Jewish leaders and put to death. It was the confirmation of his claims to be God’s agent, And above all. It demonstrated that he was triumphant over the power of sin and death (Partridge, 2018). The resurrection was seen as the decisive stage in the ascent of Jesus to share God’s throne in heaven.

Unique among all religions, Christianity makes several claims that others do not. First, all other religions exhort man to reach up to God and grasp hold of Him through their own efforts. Christianity is the only religion where God reaches down to man (Ratzinger, 2016). Second, other religions are systems of do’s and don’ts to appease God, whereas Christianity is a relationship with God. Third, Christianity looks to the Bible as the singular source of Truth. Lastly. Christianity is based upon the most fantastic event in all human history: the resurrection. These dogmas or beliefs make Christianity a unique and incredible religion full of intense demonstrations of God’s miracles and power.

Finally, as requested, I will be visiting a sacred site or personal temple experience for my final project.

Applying Middle Range Theories to Practice

Last week you began exploring literature in support of specific practice problem. One step in the analysis of literature is examining the theoretical framework that guided the study. Middle range theories are frequently used to guide nursing research and it is likely that some of the articles you reviewed used a middle range theory. This week, you will examine how middle range theories bring to light concepts in health care and the DNP-prepared nurse’s role in developing and refining middle range theories for advancing nursing science and improving practice.

To prepare:

• Reflect on the information presented in this week’s Learning Resources. Focusing on the development and use of middle range theories in nursing practice and research.
• Search the Walden Library and other scholarly databases looking for examples of the development. Analysis, or use of middle range theories in clinical practice.
• Determine current trends in the development and use of middle range theories in nursing practice and research.
• Consider how the development of new middle range theories advances nursing as a science.

Interdisciplinary Theory Evaluation

• Consider the middle range theories presented this week, and determine if one of those theories could provide a framework for exploring your clinical practice problem. If one or two middle range theories seem appropriate, begin evaluating the theory from the context of your practice problem.
• Formulate a preliminary clinical/practice research question that addresses your practice problem. If appropriate, you may use the same research question you formulated for Assignment #4.

 

In a 8- to 10-page paper (including references):

• Briefly describe your selected clinical practice problem.
• Summarize the two selected theories. Both may be middle range theories or interdisciplinary theories, or you may select one from each category.
• Evaluate both theories using the evaluation criteria provided in the Learning Resources.
• Determine which theory is most appropriate for addressing your clinical practice problem. Summarize why you selected the theory. Using the propositions of that theory, refine your clinical / practice research question.

GUIDELINES FOR CLINICAL LOGS

1.  Maintain a clinical log.  This log should be given to the clinical instructor at the end of each 50 clinical hours.  This means that you should turn in 3 logs during your clinical experience.

2.  The log should contain psychiatric patient assessments and discussion of the following issues:

Clinical Logs of Psychiatric Patient.

Date and Times of each clinical experience during the time frame.

Types of psychiatric patients seen.

Your comprehensive psychiatric patient assessment should include:

▪ History, Mental Health Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment Plan

and Rational for each treatment selected.

▪ Any treatments given.

▪ Interpersonal Reaction Recordings for at least one client.

3.   Reflect on your clinical experience for the past 40 hours.

A.  Discuss your relationship with your preceptor.  Are you fulfilling your clinical goals?  Types of interactions?  How are psychiatric NP’s being  utilized in this practice?

B.  Evaluate your agency/clinical site.  Include information about how the site   operates.  Discuss your perceptions of practice in this site.

C.  Discuss any factors with facilitated or presented a barrier to your role as   an NP.

D.  Self-evaluate and critique your performance during this time period.

E.  Reactions to client interactions and responses to treatment.

4.   This log will be used to assess your progress and to give you feedback on your diagnostic skills at the beginning level.  Do not hesitate to give information on areas which you feel you could have provided better care or a different type of care.  Did you miss something altogether?
