independent and dependent variables

Re: Topic 8 DQ 1

TOPIC 8 DQ 1

Based on how you will evaluate your EBP project, which independent and dependent variables do you need to collect? Why?

In research, a variable is essentially a person, place, object. Or phenomena that you are attempting to quantify in some manner. The easiest approach to grasp the distinction between a dependent. And independent variable is to look at what the words mean when it comes to the variable you’re working with. The researcher manipulates or adjusts the independent variable. Which is supposed to have a direct influence on the dependent variable. In an experiment, the dependent variable is the variable that is being tested and measured, and it is ‘depending’ on the independent variable. According to National Library of Medicine (n.d) there are two sorts of variables in analytical health research. We anticipate independent factors to impact dependent variables. What happens as a result of the independent variable is called a dependent variable.

For my evidence based project on patient safety. I consider self-harm and suicide attempt incidences as dependent variables and patients with suicidal ideation and self-harm urge as independent variables. Because based on patients suicidal ideation thoughts and self-harm urges, self-harm and suicide attempt incidences will change. It is essential to collect both variables to understand how we can improve and modify patient safety protocols and norms to provide better patient care outcomes and enhance quality patient care.

Dependent and independent variables are the two essential terms for understanding. And designing research studies (Falnnelly et al., 2014). The presumed cause in a cause-effect relationship is called the independent variable, and the supposed effect is called the dependent variable (Polit et al., 2001; Vogt, 1993). The researcher is usually most interested in predicting is the dependent variable.

The proposed Capstone change practice project is educating CLABSI bundles to prevent CLABSI in a medical-surgical unit. In the given context, the independent variables are several nursing practices involved in CLABSI prevention bundles. And the dependent variable is the CLABSI rates after those interventions. The CLABSI rates before the implementation of the change project have to get from the quality departments. Comparing it with the rate of CALBSI after the educational interventions will give a picture of the success.

Role Transition clinical placement

CAP Instructions and Rubric

Description :  The Clinical Application Project (CAP)is an opportunity for the BSN student to identify an issue, topic, or challenge that is relevant to their Role Transition clinical placement. The student will examine the research related to their topic and investigate the literature regarding a potential solution for, or intervention to improve, the issue. The student then creates a final project, intervention, or solution to their identified topic. They will present their work in a professional paper and electronic poster which will be presented via video.

Step-by-step directions :

1. Identify a problem, issue, concern, or area for improvement relevant to your clinical setting. Consult with your RN preceptor and ResU clinical faculty regarding your topic. Your clinical faculty must approve the topic before work is initiated.

2. Educate yourself about the importance of your topic to nursing and your particular clinical placement. Whenever possible, you will want to include facts, statistics etc. relevant to your

3. Critically analyze the literature related to the area of concern.

4. Identify possible solutions to the selected area of concern, based on the evidence in the literature.

5. Review each for its strengths, weaknesses, and feasibility.

6. Select one solution.

7. Engage in the necessary work for this quality improvement project (e.g., develop a new form and identify approvals required for its use). Although students may not have enough time to actually implement their entire project or quality improvement activity, the final work product should clearly outline the plan for implementation, including a timeline. Students will provide evidence of their work by submitting the product of their (e.g., educational program outline, instructional pamphlet, nursing form, pocket resource, new policy, patient or family focused education, etc.)

The student will create an electronic poster which visually represents the clinical application project. The e-poster displays similar components as the paper, but in a very concise and visually pleasing design. Further guidelines and instructions for the e-poster are included in the document entitled “e-Poster Creation”.

The final paper and electronic poster are graded according to the specifics contained in the following grading rubric. Due to the pandemic, e-poster presentations will not take place on campus. Instead, students will present via video and upload to Brightspace.

Social Determinants of Health

Week 2: Social Determinants of Health

This week, the focus was on social determinants and how social determinants impact the quality of life and health care of a community. For this week’s discussion:

1. Explore a social determinant issue in your community that may be impacting quality of life or health care. Take a picture of this issue as it may be represented on a billboard, or like Dr. Riley, a bus stop. Upload that picture into the discussion.

2. Share your perspective about the social determinant issue with your class colleagues defining what role you might play in changing this social determinant in your community.

3. Compose a 140-character Tweet that describes what you have shared with the class. Remember Twitter only allows 140 characters so you will need to be concise. Share this Tweet in the discussion.

Clinical Information Systems

Clinical Information Systems

Conduct an online search for two different EHR Software Solutions (e.g., eClinicalWorks, McKesson, Cerner, Allscripts, Athena Health, GE Healthcare, Epic, Care360, practice fusion, OPTUMInsight, NEXTGEN, etc.).

(I use cerner and athena health in my current work.)

  • Briefly describe the selected EHR software solutions. Include three features of each software in the description.
  • Compare and contrast the benefits of the two selected EHR software solutions.
  • Select an EHR software solution that is best suited for your workplace environment. Identify the workplace environment (hospital, stand-alone private practice, etc.) and provide your rationale for the selected software.

Instructions:

Use an APA 7 style and a minimum of 200 words. Provide support from a minimum of at least three (3) scholarly sources. The scholarly source needs to be: 1) evidence-based, 2) scholarly in nature, 3) Sources should be no more than five years old (published within the last 5 years), and 4) an in-text citation. citations and references are included when information is summarized/synthesized and/or direct quotes are used, in which APA style standards apply.

• Textbooks are not considered scholarly sources.

• Wikipedia, Wikis, .com website or blogs should not be used.

the themes of membership in or destruction of cultural communities

Imagine you are hanging out with 2 or 3 especially academically-inclined friends, watching anime and talking about the themes of membership in or destruction of cultural communities.  After viewing the TV anime “Ouran High School Host Club,” the documentary about Studio Ghibli “Kingdom of Dreams and Madness” and the full-length anime film “Spirited Away,” and and reading this module’s assigned reading, discuss the ways these different anime represent community.  How do these anime *specifically* represent cultural communities?  How do these films represent violence and destruction of communities?  What overall interpretation of the future (optimistic?  pessimistic?  why?) can a thoughtful viewer generate from the endings of these films?

Feel free to include material from our course textbook by Tsutsui as it pertains to cultural specificity in Japanese popular culture (this week: anime) and cultural communities.

The Manga Module material on the representation of gender will also be very pertinent to this week’s consideration of communities, especially in the TV anime “Ouran High School Host Club.”

Compose a spell-checked, grammatically-correct response. The readings on anime should help you to articulate your point, and you must make references to all of them. Make sure you anchor your specifics with page numbers and/or video time stamps.

After you have completed your response, you should post AT LEAST two additional short responses to your classmates’ comments.  These responses should be approximately 80-100 words in length.  The class discussion is broken up into small discussion groups of 3 to 5 people this week, so expect to have a close-knit and engaged discussion with just a few members of the class.

What Does It Mean To Be A Leader?

We often think of leaders as holding positions of authority, such as presidents and CEOs of big-name corporations or prominent leaders of non-profit organizations. However, in John Maxwell’s article Lead From Where You Are he states that the number 1 misconception people have about leadership is the belief that leadership comes from having a position or title. Before reading this article, what would you consider to be defining traits and behaviors of a successful leader? Has your perspective changed after reading the article? If so, how?

The posts must include and,  least 1 comment and 1 response to the question. I am looking for detail and examples. If you are thinking it, write it down. Feel free to post more than 1 comment.
