For this task, you will write a paper comparing and contrasting three of the following professional codes of ethical practice against the APA code of ethics as explained in Fisher (2012):
- American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
- American Counseling Association
- Association for Death Education and Counseling
- American School Counselor Association (ASCA)
- National Association of Social Workers
- National Board For Certified Counselors
Your analysis of these codes will include responses to the following questions:
- What are the similarities among the codes?
- Based upon your readings and research, what do you believe the codes lack? What would you add?
- How enforceable do you believe the code is if an individual violates any standard or rule?
- What process is in place to address perceived unethical behavior?
- Do you believe you would be able to report a colleague who has committed a code violation?
