Consumer Health Choices and Behaviors
Discussion: Consumer Health Choices and Behaviors
Manufacturing and pharmaceutical are two types of firms that aggressively market the over-the-counter or prescription drugs they produce. Other health-related companies employ similar strategies for their products. This Discussion will focus on the impact that marketing strategies have on consumers as well as your own purchasing experiences.
To prepare for this Discussion, review the following page on locating articles in the Walden Library.
Walden University Library. (2017). Evidence-based practice research: CINAHL search help. Retrieved from http://academicguides.waldenu.edu/healthevidence/c…
Find two health-related articles in the Walden Library about how health literacy affects consumer buying habits. For example, you could use an article that deals with marketing of prescription drugs and how that affects questions people ask their doctors. The articles selected should reflect on the following questions:
- What do consumers use as a basis for making decisions regarding health-related products or pharmaceuticals?
- What part does health literacy play in making these types of purchasing choices?
- Are there variations in purchasing decisions with respect to demographics?
