Hi All, It seems that IDS (integrated delivery systems) are really important to the restructured healthcare system and care across the continuum. We must have better systems to connect the dots, not only for the various providers to see the care, results and conditions but for the savvy consumer who needs and wants to know their own information in an almost real time manner. Gone are the days where folks are comfortable waiting on a bill, or a test result. They want to see them immediately. As we have discussed and identified, the infrastructure isn’t connected. Many organizations have tried developing portals where information can be deposited and assessed by many. Some of the feedback is that it is slow and all providers aren’t connected to the same portal, so patients have difficulty accessing a more comprehensive picture. “A patient portal is a secure online website that gives patients convenient, 24-hour access to personal health information from anywhere with an Internet connection. Using a secure username and password, patients can view health information such as:

· Recent doctor visits

· Discharge summaries

· Medications

· Immunizations

· Allergies

· Lab results”

What successes have you had with portals in recent years?
