If home is our “first place,” and work/school is our “second place,” what is YOUR “third place?”
Ray Oldenburg’s theory in 1989 pioneered the concept that the place where you choose to spend your time is considered our “third place.” (Refer to Beatley, Chapter 1 for more information) This place has unique value and is often where critical socialization and interactions take place.
