Quality management in healthcare has continued to evolve since the introduction of Total Quality Management (TQM).

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards. Guidelines were published for implementation of ISO 9000 quality management systems in health care in 2001.

1. List the eight ISO 9000 quality management principles.

2. Select one of the ISO 9000 principles and describe how it could be applied to a situation in health information management.

3.The continual improvement principle states that “The organization should have continual improvement as a permanent objective.” What measures would you put in place to accomplish this principle?
