Experimental Biology Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay Lab Report

I need an explanation for this Biology question to help me study.

Data can be found here: Smurf Pandemic.pdf

Results should include:

  • Table describing the results of the ELISA (4 points)
    • Individual’s name
    • Individual’s test result (+ or -)
  • Figure depicting the spread of the disease (4points)
    • Visually indicate positive tests

Discussion Points (4 points each):

1. State your conclusion. Which individual had the original case of the disease? Use the data to support your conclusion.

2. How did you confirm that the results were true (in other words, how do you know you don’t have false positives or false negatives)?

3. What other methods can we use to confirm the positive tests? Explain how that method works.

*For all discussion points, use the data to support your conclusions. One-sentence answers will not be considered discussions and will not receive full credit.*

Biology Fungal Mode of Nutrition Due to Hyphae Lab Report

Need help with my Biology question – I’m studying for my class.

Please answer the fungi review questions found on page 10 of the lab handout.

1. Most fungi have a mycelium composed of filamentous hyphae. In what ways is this body form well adapted to the fungal mode of nutrition?

2. What is the difference between plasmogamy and karyogamy?

3. What is the advantage of gills in the basidiocarp fruiting body?

4. What is the distinction between dikaryotic and diploid?

5. The central cell of the angiosperm megagametophyte contains two haploid nuclei, but
we do not call it dikaryotic. Why?

6. Think back to the plant life cycles, which you are now an expert on. What is one major
difference between the diploid stage in plants and the diploid stage in fungi?

7. In fungi, how do the asexually produced spores differ from the sexually produced spores?

8. Which spores (asexual or sexual) are produced when resources are plentiful? Why? (Hint: When would genetic variability be most important?)

Acid Phosphatase Enzyme Assay Introduction Lab Report

I’m working on a Biology question and need support to help me understand better.

I had this biology lab and I need to answer the post lab questions at the very and which worths 15pt total. I would appreciate if you can help me do them.

Transposons Questions

I’m working on a Biology question and need guidance to help me study.

Lecture 19:

1. Assume you have two cell-free transposition systems for a yeast Ty element (retrotransposon) and a vertebrate Tc1/mariner element (DNA transposon), respectively. What effect would the following inhibitors have on these two systems, and why?

(a) Inhibitors of translation.

(b) Inhibitors of transcription.

(c) Inhibitors of double-stranded DNA replication.

(d) Inhibitors of reverse transcription.

2. How can the fact that some genes contain introns be exploited to test whether or not a transposon moves through an RNA intermediate?

3. Explain the statement: The presence of transposons can lead to mutation either by transposition or through homologous recombination.

4. About 40% of the human genome is represented by transposable elements. How is genome stability maintained?

5. How can transposable elements be used to identify enhancers? Design an experiment to identify enhancers in the mouse model system.

Infectious Disease PSA Campylobacter Paper

I’m stuck on a Biology question and need an explanation.

Infectious Disease Public Service Announcement

It is important that the PSA flow nicely—it would be best NOT to look like individual work that was simply pasted together!

In addition, each group will be required to answer the following questions:

  1. Discuss why your team is interested in addressing this problem?
  2. What is your target audience (the group/population you want to educate?
  3. Why does this group need to hear your message?
  4. What is the basic message you will be attempting to convey?
  5. What are the key things that people need to know about this disease?

We have decided on the theme

We chose Campylobacter

Why we chose it: We found it super interesting that water which is something that we need the most can kill you the easiest if it’s not clean so we looked at water borne diseases.

Our target audience is: people who study aboard

The basic message would be : Prevention and awareness since it is very under reported

Symptoms: Diarrhea, Nausea, Stomach Cramps, Vomiting, Temporary Paralysis, Could Possibly Spread to Blood Stream.

Vaccines Medical Controversy Paper

I’m studying and need help with a Biology question to help me learn.

Directions

your assignment is to research (internet or library) ONE area of controversy regarding the use vaccines.

Examples of vaccine controversies include:

  • Whether or not the MMR, DTaP, or other vaccines cause conditions such as autism, ADHD, diabetes, etc.
  • Whether or not states should require vaccines for school attendance (It is the state that has the power to mandate vaccination, not the individual school districts or school boards)
  • Should there be parental exemptions for mandated vaccinations? Religious exemptions?
  • Recommendations regarding who should receive the HPV vaccine (e.g. gender, age)
  • The schedule by which vaccines are given to infants and toddlers. Too frequent? Too many?
  • How well the vaccines works to prevent these diseases versus potential side effects of the vaccines
  • Whether or not politicians should be involving themselves in vaccination policy making
  • Who best to trust? Doctors, Big Pharma, anti-vaxxers, holistic health advocates, bloggers
  • There are many other vaccine controversies on the internet—you may choose any controversy that interests you

Grading Information

After conducting some research, write a 1-paragraph statement regarding your position on your chosen controversy. Briefly explain each side of the controversy, and what led you to your belief. (¼ – ½ single-spaced page will be sufficient—you will be following up with more details in CTA 8b.)

Include at least one scholarly reference and appropriate in-text citations and Address all points on the DQ. One point will be deducted for not addressing each item mentioned above. Remember that presenting someone else’s work as your own is plagiarism.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.

It is important that you cover all the topics identified in the assignment. Covering the topic does not mean mentioning the topic BUT presenting an explanation from the context of ethics and the readings for this class

I am a stickler for good organization in everything. I do not want to have to dig for your answers. For instance, if an assignment asks you to provide three examples of something, I suggest that you number them 1-3 so I can find them easily. I also expect that when you submit something as a narrative, you pay attention to how you organize your thoughts: use paragraphs with a topic sentence and supporting sentences; and change paragraphs whenever you introduce a new idea. Also, if there are multiple parts to an assignment, use sub-heads within the paper to organize them.

To get maximum points you need to follow the requirements listed for this assignments 1) look at the word/page limits 2) review and follow APA rules 3) create subheadings to identify the key sections you are presenting and 4) Free from typographical and sentence construction errors.

REMEMBER IN APA FORMAT JOURNAL TITLES AND VOLUME NUMBERS ARE ITALICIZED.

HR Strategy and Competitive Advantage Discussion

I don’t understand this Health & Medical question and need help to study.

For the Human Resources: Strategy and Competitive Advantage assessment you will develop a 3-5-page report that analyzes an organization’s current workforce compared to predicted future needs. The report should also include an analysis as to how human resources can provide a competitive advantage.

INTRODUCTION

Workforce planning occurs when organizational hiring managers work alongside their organization’s human resource department to forecast staffing needs and develop a plan to meet those needs (Longest & Darr, 2014). To support many of the initiatives identified via the strategic planning process, talent must be developed within the organization, or recruited into the organization. The planning process includes identifying the organization’s talent needs, followed by an identification of the competencies, values, and behaviors required for effective performance. The workforce of the organization is often one of the largest competitive advantages the organization has and it must be valued, cultivated, and maintained.

Human resource management is the process by which an organization identifies, selects, trains, and manages their workforce. Due to a shortage of health care professionals and clinicians, a significant challenge faced by health care organizations is attracting and retaining highly qualified and competent individuals (Healey & Marchese, 2012). Building and creating high performing teams is important, as the industry is in need of individuals who can overcome obstacles and respond quickly to the rapidly changing environment. Attributes of high performing teams include trust, accountability, communication, and collaboration (Hakanen & Soudunsaari, 2012). Developing and sustaining high performing teams requires human resource personnel to ensure effective strategies are in place to recruit and retain individuals who can meet the rigorous demands of the industry. An organization successful at creating these teams is capable of transforming themselves into a high reliability organization in which patients are treated and serviced with minimal compromise to quality or patient safety.

    • Communicate in a professional and effective manner by writing content clearly and logically, with correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

PREPARATION

This assessment is based upon the scenario presented in the Vila Health: Human Resources media simulation. Be sure you have completed this activity before you begin your assessment.

It may be helpful to consider the following as you work through the simulation:

  • What is the current state of the workforce in compare to the needs of the future in the simulation?
  • What should be an ideal staffing plan to consider?
  • How can human resources be seen as a competitive advantage within the organization?
  • What could be the implications of not addressing the organization’s workforce as it relates to its strategic goals identified for the future of the organization?
  • What are three measures you would implement to determine whether the new human resource staffing plan has effectively met the needs of the organization?

INSTRUCTIONS

Human resources are those individuals with specialized skills and commitment to deliver health services. Strategic human resource planning enables organizations to support their master strategic plan by ensuring the organization is equipped from a human capital perspective to meet future demands.

For this assessment, put yourself in the role of a leader at St. Anthony Medical Center. You are making a report regarding your observations and analysis in the wake of what happened in the Vila Health media simulation related to this assessment.

This assessment can be organized into 2 parts:

  • Part 1: Comparison of Current Workforce to Future Needs.
  • Part 2: Staffing Plan and Competitive Advantage.
Part 1: Comparison of Current Workforce to Future Needs

For this part, present your analysis of St. Anthony Medical Center’s (SAMC) current state and preparedness with regard to their workforce. Additionally, comment briefly on how this compares to the needs and gaps you noted in the media scenario.

As you complete this part, it may be helpful to consider the following:

  • What is the capacity now based upon current staffing?
  • What is the current state of the workforce in compare to the needs of the future for SAMC?
    • What issues will be caused by the difference between current and future staffing capacity?
Part 2: Staffing Plan and Competitive Advantage

For this part of the assessment, you will present an ideal staffing plan based upon your analysis of the media simulation. Your plan should include measures that can be used to judge its success. Additionally, to help illustrate your plan’s importance and benefits to SAMC, present a compelling argument about what impact it may have on the organization if your staffing plan is not adopted, as well as the benefits of creating a competitive advantage through human resources.

As you complete this part of your assessment, it may be helpful to consider:

  • What should be an ideal staffing plan to consider (more staff, less staff, or a diversified workforce, etcetera)?
    • What can the future staffing model do for the organization?
  • What three measures would you implement to determine whether the new human resource staffing plan has effectively met the needs of the organization?
  • How might the organization be impacted moving forward if workforce issues are not addressed?
    • How could this impact the organization’s ability to meet strategic goals?
  • What is a competitive advantage?
    • How can human resources become an advantage for an organization within the industry?
Additional Requirements
  • Structure: Include a title page, table of contents, and reference page.
  • Length: 3–5 pages.
  • References: Cite at least three current scholarly or professional resources.
  • Format: Use APA style for references and citations.
  • Font: Times New Roman font, 12 point, double-spaced for narrative portions only.
